Twenty-Four Short Musical Episodes

(with first lines from poems by Emily Dickinson)

2024, Sunnyside

Incredible art blossoms when the stresses of time and funds do not weigh on its creator. Through a generous grant by Chamber Music America, the Doris Duke Charitable Fund, and time provided by the pandemic, vocalist and composer Luciana Souza was able to sit down and write a new long-form piece without distraction. Taking inspiration from first lines of poems by Emily Dickinson, and loosely tracking a day in the life of someone, Luciana recorded the piece live onstage at Rockport Music Hall in Massachusetts, along with her trio of guitarist Chico Pinheiro and bassist Scott Colley.
